Internet & Voting

Electronic voting (e-voting) is where both the casting and tabulating of votes are dispersed and calculated electronically. The Internet is one of the methods in doing so and is a progressive system that will become prominent in place in many sectors beyond the government system to include education and corporations.

Transparency and access to information have been revolutionized by the Internet, and this applies particularly to government. Voters and users of government programs now have unprecedented access to legislation, regulations, resources and other data in an online form to help them become better informed citizens and beneficiaries of services. Online voting will further expand the impact of the Internet by expanding access to more voters and making it easier to participate in elections, the lifeblood of our democracy.

Benefits of e-voting include, but are not limited to; cost savings, increase participation rates, better informed voters and reduced administration.
